What is a Divan bed?
To put it simply, a Divan base bed is a wooden box frame, upholstered in fabric. This box usually comes in two parts which join together to create the base of the bed. All our divan beds come with additional divan storage options, like side drawers which are great to reduce clutter in your bedroom.
Divan beds can come in all sizes, single, small double, double, king, and super king options available.
Divan Base Vs Slatted Base?
This must be one of the most common questions we get asked. There isn’t a right answer, but to help we have listed out some of the benefits of each below Bed slats are wooden planks that run horizontally and are commonly used to hold a mattress on a platform bed. They fit within your bed frame and typically are placed about 2-3 inches apart to evenly support the weight of the mattress. Depending on the size of your bed, you may have one or two columns of planks running alongside each other
Slatted bases give your mattress the amount of ventilation and air circulation it needs that a divan doesn’t offer. This helps to keep your mattress fresh and cool particularly during those warm summer months. However, a divan is less able to ventilate the underneath of the mattress due to its base structure being covered with fabric. Believe it or not divan beds are actually small compared to most standard bed frames with fitted slatted bases. Therefore, a benefit of investing in a divan is the extra bedroom space you gain overall, giving you even more space for furnishings and much more.
